The city government expects better coordination in the implementation of infrastructure projects this year to fulfill Mayor Benjamin Magalong’s thrust to deliver only quality output to the public.
City Administrator Bonifacio dela Peña said this was among the results of the coordination meeting between the mayor, Rep. Marquez Go and Department of Public Works and Highways Baguio City District Engineering Office District Engr. Rene Zarate last Sept. 11.
The officials sat down to plan the implementation of national government-funded projects for implementation in 2022 in the city to ensure coordination and quality execution of the projects.
The mayor had in the previous instances expressed dissatisfaction with some of the projects demanding quality so that, he said, the public would really reap benefits from these infrastructures.
City Administrator Bonifacio Dela Peña who joined the meeting along with City Planning and Development Coordinator Donna Tabangin said the meeting was productive as they were able to align plans and details of the priority projects scheduled for prosecution in the early part of next year.
Dela Peña said that aside from the priority projects, the key officials also discussed the implementation of the digital traffic signalization system at the central business district.
The project aims to fix all malfunctioning traffic lights and upgrade them into a software/hardware controlled system with artificial intelligent (AI) cameras monitored at the traffic office near the newly inaugurated Smart City command center. – Aileen P. Refuerzo
