The sound of gongs rhythmically struck during the launching of the 121stfoundation day of Benguet and Adivay Festival on Nov. 8 but the main celebration on Nov. 23 would have limited number of attendees.

Gov. Melchor Diclas, said the main celebration set at the Benguet Sports Complex multipurpose gymnasium will be livestreamed online to give chance for the public to watch the event.

Diclas said a limited number of audiences would be determined per municipality for the face-to-face celebration with the theme: “Resilient and healthier Benguet-Flourishing in the midst of adversity.”

“Previously, we invite everyone from the 13 towns, we have booths for every municipality and we give them pigs to butcher. It is more celebratory but we know that in this pandemic, we cannot do all that,” Diclas said.

There will be no guest from the national government but legislative caretaker Rep. Eric Yap who will attend the celebration.

Also, around 21 pigs would be butchered but it will be distributed to the 13 municipalities including five district hospitals and other provincial agencies, where the celebration would take place in their res-                                                    pective towns.

Rituals will be performed during the celebration including kading on Nov. 22 at the Benguet Sports Complex while the cañao and sepnak will be on Nov. 23 and 24, respectively.
