Another bike event that aims to raise funds for various public schools has been set on March 27 in Itogon, Benguet.
Dubbed “First Ambuklao Mountain Bike Challenge,” the event features open and age categories for road and mountain bikers.
“The event aims to promote healthy living through biking and to raise funds for the purchase of bond papers which will be distributed in one school in Itogon district and public schools in Besao, Mountain Province,” organizers said.
Categories are open category for road bikes where female participants may compete with males, mountain bikes for 17 years old and below, 18 to 29 years old, 30 to 39 years old, 40 to 49 years old; 50 years and above, and ladies open category.
Registration fee is P500 inclusive of a race bib and morning snack.
Interested participants may register at JKL bike shop at Magsaysay Avenue; Toyville bike park and accessories store at Baguio Centermall; and Arteos coffee shop at Ambuklao Road, Itogon.
Prizes for all categories are: P1,500 and medal for champion; P1,200 and medal for second place; P800 and medal for third place; and medal for 4t​ h​ to 10t​ h​ place.
The race starts at 8 a.m. with jump off at the Adonot Bridge along Ambuclao Road and ends at Mason Arc view deck.
There will be no on-site registration while awarding rites will immediately follow after the last rider has arrived. Protocols will be observed during awards rites.
Participants are encouraged to be smart, courteous, and defensive riders during the event.
