BONTOC, Mountain Province – Service providers from the tourism and industry sectors, along with the barangay officials and community members who are expected to be on the frontline in the conduct of the highly anticipated Southeast Asian Trail Running Cup happening from June 19 to 23, this town, underwent the Filipino Brand of Service Excellence (FBSE) training on June 5.

The stakeholders who are undergoing the training are workers and owners of accommodation, food and beverage establishments, barangay officials, local tour guides, marshals, and members of the Bontoc Federated Association of Tricycle Operators and Drivers (Bofatod).

The training aimed to capacitate the attendees with the knowledge, skills, and attitude to provide quality service to domestic and foreign tourists.

It is part of the LGU’s efforts to strengthen the overall tourism experience of runners coming from different countries and other parts of the Philippines during the Southeast Asian Trail Running Cup of the Philippine Trail Running Association (Philtra) and the Southeast Asian Trail Running Confederation.

Mayor Jerome Tudlong, Jr. extended his gratitude to the Department of Tourism-Cordillera for funding the training.

He also commended the attendees for their participation and encouraged them to put into practice the learning that gained from the training as these are essential in boosting the tourism industry in the municipality.

Tudlong encouraged business establishment owners to hang tarpaulins to welcome the runners.

The mayor said the business sector will most likely benefit from the event.

With the mountain trails of Bontoc becoming a favorite spot of runners, the mayor is looking forward to declaring the municipality as the “Trail Running Capital of Northern Luzon”.
