David Charles Serdeña, a son of a female caddy, came through with birdies in two of the last three holes to finish with an opening one over par 69 or equivalent to 53 Molave points to lead the way in the Fil-A division of the 2nd Fil-Am Invitational Junior Championship at the Camp John Hay Golf Club.

Serdeña became famous in the golfing community, as he commutes with his mother via bus or tricycle when participating in regional and national tournaments when majority of the other competitors arrive at the clubs aboard SUVs.

After going three over in the initial six holes including a double bogey on hole 5, Serdeña found his stride and made consecutive birdies on holes 7 and 8.

He added two on 10 and 12, then delivered on another pair on 16 and 17 that gave him a three-point lead on Baguio-based Korean An Seongmin.

Zhan Pocholo Medina was the solo third with 50 followed by Francis Slavin with 47, Mark Velasco with 45, Seth Koa with 44, and Juan Antonio Escaño with 42 in the event co-hosted and organized by Baguio Country Club and CJHGC.

In Fil-B, Jeon Gunwoo turned in a 50, six up on rising jungolfer Felix Saludar. Aenzo Sulaik remains in contention after a 42.

Miguel Orbita, a CJHGC dependent, has carded 44 points and raced to a big lead in Fil-C as Ezekiel Opinion and Park Hoonmin managed just 31 and 26, respectively.

Over at BCC, it was a close fight for the Am-B title with Benguet golfer Zyrah de Leon winning the crown with 32, edging Cho Seungbin with 31 and Monica Angheng with 28.

Other leaders are Jose Luis Espinosa in Fil-D, Cole Parker Galvez in Fil-E, Annika Molintas in Am-A, Megan Angheng in Am-C, Maurysse Abalos in Am-D and Athalea Espedido in Am-E. – Press release
