Close to 650 taekwondo athletes from all over the country saw action at the Benguet Sports Complex gym in Wangal, La Trinidad, Benguet for the 2nd National Taekwondo Championships on June 22 to 23.

The athletes, representing their teams, competed in three categories: poomsae, sparring and combat in the different age brackets.

Tournament Manager Danrey Velo, who is also the head of the Bravehearts Martial Arts Institute, said the winners of the competition will have a chance to represent the country in upcoming taekwondo competitions abroad.

The event is backed by the Samahang Taekwondo ng Pilipinas, Kombat Taekwondo Philippines and World Martial Sports.
