The Cordillera Career Deve-lopment College (CCDC) led other schools in the Cordillera as part of the top 300 global innovative universities under the World University Rankings for Innovation (WURI).

CCDC ranked 146th top university in the shortlisted 300 universities worldwide as announced by WURI on June 7.

In its second year of joining the ranking, where it ranked 122nd last year, CCDC is the only school in the Cordillera that landed in the top 150.

The University of Baguio ranked 159th; followed by Kalinga State University, 160th; Saint Louis University, 162nd; University of the Cordilleras, 166th; Ifugao State University, 174th; and Benguet State University, 193rd

Also in the ranking is Abra State Institute of Sciences and Technology, 201st; Mountain Province State Polytechnic College, 260th; King’s College of the Philippines, 277th; and Apayao State College, 284th.   

The WURI is a global ranking system that evaluates universities based on innovativeness, rather than traditional academic metrics.

It was established to acknowledge institutions that contribute to society through creative and innovative approaches to research, education, and service.

Meanwhile, the Times Higher Education (THE) in its 2024 impact rankings released on June 12, listed IFSU and SLU in the 601 to 800 bracket.

In the rankings, which were based on the schools’ observance of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), IFSU placed second highest in the country along with De La Salle University and University of the Philippines. 

SLU is one of the third highest in the country along with Batangas State University, Mariano Marcos State University, and University of Santo Tomas.

Ateneo de Manila University led the Philippine universities in the THE rankings in the 201-300 bracket.

THE said that by excelling in a variety of SDGs, these universities showcased their commitment to addressing the world’s most pressing challenges, including environmental sustainability, social inclusion, economic growth, and partnerships.
