Change is the only constant in this world. No matter how fast or slow change occurs, it happens one way or another.
Even something as huge and seemingly invincible as the universe, if you believe what the scientists claim, is continuously expanding and does not remain static. This concept of the universe expanding is something so difficult to wrap my mind around, but I’m not the expert. So there.
Anyway, while we can control some of these changes within certain parameters, others are simply out of our mortal “powers” like ageing, for example. On the other hand, we can change, if we get our acts together as a long-suffering people, that is, some of our national and local leaders who have done nothing but enrich themselves and their cohorts, and replace them with those who are true servant-leaders via our votes in next year’s elections.
Admittedly, in our beautiful archipelago of delicious coconuts and smiling carabaos, meaningful change happens in a snail and even glacial pace especially in the political sphere since most of our so-called leaders belong to greedy political dynasties and many of our countrymen sell their votes. I could be wrong.
Anyway, still in line with change, it’s titillating to learn that after more than a century, the Senate has approved on final reading House Bill 8882 or the revised charter of Baguio City principally authored by Rep. Mark Go that, among others, shape Baguio as a resilient, sustainable, inclusive, and liveable city; preserve and restore the historical value of the city; ensure the city’s sustenance as an educational center of Northern Luzon; and more.
Cheers!

In the effort to inoculate as much residents as possible in a shorter time, the City Health Services Office has been establishing a drive-thru vaccination located at Athletic Bowl. All you need is an ID card and QR code registration at https://bakuna.baguio.gov.ph/. We all have to be protected from the surge of the feared Covid-19 Delta variant.

Here’s “Your Smile On My Mind” by Luke O. Meyers: “I wake up every day with your smile on my mind./ It’s a beautiful sight to behold, so soft and so kind./ My dreams are filled with the thought of me and you./ I awake and smile, for my dreams have come true./ I have you to guide me through my troubles and fears./ I’ll always be here for you through your struggles and tears./
I love you more than my words could ever show./ You mean everything to me; I just want you to know./ I’ll be here for you no matter the dilemma./ You will always be first on my agenda.”

Let’s end with a prayer: “I need to know that you care, Lord, that you love me, be my refuge from pain, replacing my distress with peace, and be my strength when I feel weak and find it hard to carry on. Help me not to fear the future but to boldly trust that you are in control when my emotions plunge me down, and when I am in despair.”
