Mayor Benjamin Magalong signed city council Resolution 291, s. 2022, commending City Librarian Easter W. Pablo for garnering the Ikalawang Gantimpala Award of the 2022 Gawad Parangal sa Natatanging Propesyonal na Tagapa-ngasiwa ng Pampublikong Aklatan.

The measure also congratulated the Baguio City Public Library for garnering the Most Innovative Public Libraries Award by the National Library and The Asia Foundation.

The Gawad Parangal is the most prestigious and highest recognition given to professional librarians and non-librarians working for the advancement of libraries and gives due recognition to the country’s most outstanding libraries and librarians working in a public library that are affiliated with the National Library.

“Pablo is being awarded for the second time having been awarded in 2021 for the same distinction and category which only reiterates her exemplary dedication and outstanding performance in placing the BCPL to new heights and in fostering the practice of excellent librarianship for the whole country,” the measure stated.

She is a Board Examination Review Instructor for Librarians and has conducted institutional research that significantly contributed to the improvement of library services and continues to share her expertise as a lecturer and resource speaker spanning more than 24 years as a librarian.

Pablo holds two graduate degrees, Masters in Public Administration and Masters in Library and Information Technology, graduating cum laude and ranked fourth in the library science board examinations in 1999. “Her hard work and effort caused the BCPL to deserve the Most Innovative award this year making Pablo the first and only librarian in the whole Cordillera to receive such an honor for the second consecutive time,” the resolution stated. – Gaby B.
