The local government and the National Housing Authority signed last March 29 a memorandum of agreement containing the terms and conditions on the development of a city-owned lot at Barangay Irisan for socialized housing.

The socialized housing project will benefit those residing at danger areas, those displaced as a result of the implementation of infrastructure projects of the city government, those issued court orders for eviction, and other urban poor families who qualify for relocation and resettlement assistance.

The agreement states that security of tenure shall be granted to the beneficiaries through usufruct agreement or through a conditional contract to sell or any mode of conveyance as may be approved by the city council.

The city government’s responsibility is to secure, comply, and submit to NHA all legal and technical data covering the project site.

NHA will assist the city in the land development, preparation of housing plans; release the development fund worth P50 million in two tranches; provide technical assistance such as cost estimates and implementation schedules; evaluate, review and approve development plans, and cost estimates, and construction works among others.

The MOA was signed by Mayor Benjamin B. Magalong and NHA Acting Regional Manager for Region 1 and the Cordillera Maria Belinda V. Sevalla. – PIO release
