For the 2024 barangay and 2025 midterm elections, voters in eight barangays in Baguio will have to cast their votes in new locations after the Election and Barangay Affairs Department of the Commission on Elections approved the Comelec-Baguio’s request for the transfer of voting centers in these barangays.
The barangays that will be transferred to new voting centers are Loakan-Apugan – from Loakan Elementary School voting center to Spring Hills ES; BGH Compound – from BGH building to Baguio City National High School; Harrison-Claudio Carantes and Malcolm Square-Perfecto – from Baguio Chinese Patriotic High School to BCNHS; City Camp Proper – from City Camp Community Youth Center to Pines City NHS; Country Club Village – from Country Club barangay hall and daycare center to Country Club Village ES; Fairview – from Andres Bonifacio ES to Fairview ES; and Scout Barrio – from John Hay Elementary School to Laurel ES.
Proximity to the voting centers, reclamation of private buildings, and construction of former voting centers were the reasons cited for the transfer.
The new voting centers were inspected and the teachers in charge did not object to the transfer.
Political parties and independent candidates (in the previous election) likewise did not object to the transfer. – Rimaliza A. Opiña
