The Department of Agriculture-Cordillera is funding several projects of the City Veterinary and Agriculture Office (CVAO) amounting to more than P15 million.
Acting CVAO Head Silardo Bested reported this during the management committee meeting.
Among the projects are the chicken multiplier breeder facility worth P2M, rabbit multiplier breeder facility (P1M), solar-powered irrigation system (P750,000), pump irrigation system open source (P2M), and urban model farm-cum-vegetable and seedling production (P10M).
The chicken multiplier breeder facility will be located at the CVAO, Slaughterhouse Compound at Sto. Niño barangay to benefit interested residents while the rabbit multiplier breeder facility will be at Purok 12 Apugan, Irisan with the Irisan Rabbit Farmers Association composed of 20 rabbit breeders as beneficiaries.
Bested said the solar-powered irrigation system will be at Purok 2, Irisan with 30 farmers from puroks 1, 2, and 9 as  beneficiaries; while five units of pump irrigation system will be installed at Sto. Tomas Central for three farmers’ associations and seven units at Camp 7 for two farmers’ associations.
Six units of pump irrigation system will be installed at Happy Hallow for two farmers’ associations while two units are targeted for Dontogan with a farmers’ association as beneficiary.
For the model farm-cum-vegetable and seedling production, Bested said one unit each is targeted for Camp 7, Happy Hallow, Irisan, Sto. Nino, and Sto. Tomas Central that will benefit eight farmers’ associations and interested residents. – Gaby B. Keith
