Baguio City officials commended Islay Erika Bomogao for being the champion in the 45-kilogram division in  the 2022 Muay Thai National Championships in Subic Bay, Zambales held Nov. 29 to Dec. 3, 2022.        

The city council said Bomogao’s achievement yet again proved that Baguio is a home to world-class athletes thereby giving pride and honor to the city.

Bomogao, who has been a consistent medalist in the Southeast Asian Games, was also awarded the “Best Senior Female Nak Muay” trophy for her excellent performance.         

The five-day event was organized by the Muay Thai Association of the Philippines (MAP), the national governing body for Muay Thai in the country.

Bomogao, a proud Igorot fighter from the Cordillera and a resident of Baguio, has added decoration to her previous winnings by beating her rivals in the tournament en route to a podium finish.

Her victory is concrete proof that even a petite athlete like her can achieve their dreams in no time not only with talent but also with discipline, hard work and perseverance. – PIO release
