The Department of Budget and Management has ramped up its digital transformation, resulting in the full adoption of the integrated financial management information system.
DBM Secretary Amenah Pangandaman said the system has a budget and treasury management system as a centralized database for all government financial operations.
“The DBM is maximizing the transformative potential of digital technology to ensure greater efficiency in delivering public goods and services,” Pangandaman said.
The DBM is also set to launch the digital budget management roadmap, which will be implemented in a phased manner starting with Project TINA, or the Technical Innovations in National Expenditure Program application project.
She said the project will resolve pain points across the budget and management bureaus, boost operational efficiency, and automate the budget process.
The Budget Secretary is also positive that once the New Government Procurement Act (NGPA) is approved, a procurement system that is more attuned to the changing times will be in place.
The NGPA aims to improve and modernize the government procurement system in the country.
“We will even have an e-market place for common use supplies to ensure na mayroong stock lagi sa PS DBM. And because we want to be sustainable, we also have a new green procurement strategy to reduce the environmental impact of our procured goods and services,” she added.
Pangandaman said through the NGPA, the public procurement process will be more transparent by enabling public participation at all levels of the procurement process through the Philippine Open Government Partnership.
