The Department of Education-Cordillera said it is still waiting for a memorandum from the central office in order to mandate all schools and institutions in the region to recite the “Bagong Pilipinas” hymn and pledge.

DepEd-Cordillera Director Estela Cariño said her office has received the Memorandum Circular 52, signed by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin on behalf of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on June 4, which was released to all government agencies.

Cariño said DepEd-Cordillera has implemented the memorandum in the regional office.

“We complied last Monday. We played the ‘Bagong Pilipinas’ hymn through the sent video for us to hear it. That was the first time we heard it, and then we also recited the pledge in compliance to the memo,” Cariño said.

But Cariño said her office has yet to receive a memorandum from the DepEd central office for its dissemination down to the different school’s division offices and schools.

MC 52 aims to “further instill the principles of the Bagong Pilipinas brand of governance and leadership among Filipinos”.

The memo further states that “all national government agencies and instrumentalities, including government-owned and controlled corporations and educational institutions, such as state universities and colleges, are hereby directed, and local government units are hereby encouraged, to integrate the recital of the Bagong Pilipinas hymn and pledge in the conduct of weekly flag ceremonies, subject to existing laws, rules and regulations”.

The memorandum also tasks the Presidential Communications Office with disseminating the message of the “Bagong Pilipinas” hymn and pledge to all government offices and the public.
