BANGUED, Abra – The Abra Schools Division Office (SDO) is consulting Abrenians on alternative learning modes applicable in the province.

Schools Division Superintendent Gloria Buya-ao said despite the challenges brought about by the coronavirus disease-2019 (Covid-19), education must go on and the process must be modified to conform with the calls of the time.

In a press briefing on “Oplan Balik-Eskwela” SDO officials discussed the enrollment procedures and alternative modes of learning that would be adopted during the pandemic.

Using the Learner Enrollment and Survey Form (LESF), school authorities would determine the modality to be used in the delivery of basic education services.

Assistant Schools Division Superintendent Christopher Benigno said that pursuant to DepEd Order 7, s. 2020, schools and community learning centers under the supervision of regional and SDOs are authorized to decide on the specific learning modality appropriate in their context and in conformity with the situation of an area.

School Governance Operations and Division Chief Lemuel Dickson said that the primary process will be remote enrolment as a precautionary measure against Covid-19.

Class advisers are instructed to bring enrollment forms and other printed materials to the learners.

Remote enrolment process must be exhausted first before resorting to physical enrollment in schools, he said.

Buya-ao is seeking the help of barangays officials in the distribution on enrolment forms and other printed materials for the convenience of students and pupils.

Officials reported that Abra SDO has already conducted a preliminary survey on Alternative Delivery Mode among 11,371 respondents which is about 23 percent of the total learners of the province.

The survey results indicate that 56.8 percent opt for physical reporting, 26 percent for modular method and the rest for online platform.

Education Program Supervisor Benjo Agaloos said they will reprogram their survey per district to determine the method to be used in a particular district.

The DepEd earlier set the school opening on Aug. 24 before the President made his “no vaccine, no physical classes” statement.
