Filipino mixed martial artist Rolando Dy is also making his presence felt in the Brave Combat Federation following his back-to-back win in the Bahrain-based MMA promotion recently.

Dy, son of former world boxing Rolando Navarrete, has secured a unanimous decision victory over John Brewin of New Zealand in the lightweight match of Brave 44 held in Manama, Bahrain.

The 29-year-old Dy is the only Filipino fighter from outside the Cordillera who has a fight contract with Brave CF, as the rest of Filipino fighters under the same promotion are from the Cordillera, particularly Team Lakay fighters.

Dy had his moment in the third round of the intense fight when he countered a leg kick with a right straight that dropped Brewin, then unleashed several kicks on his opponent.

The Filipino fighter also succeeded in his 1-2 punch combinations in the second and third rounds after both fighters did not deliver significant strikes in the opening round.

Dy’s performance was enough to convince the three judges who gave the fight in his favor, his 14th career win in 23 bouts since he turned a pro MMA fighter in 2011.

Brewin, on the other hand, suffered his second loss in eight fights.

It was only in September that Dy, a former Ultimate Fighting Championship standout, redeemed himself from previous losses when he won via a split decision against an opponent from Poland in Brave CF 42 in Bahrain.

Dy turned emotional as soon as his hand was raised after an intense duel with Maciej Gierszewski, who has given the Filipino fighter an acid test in the fastest growing mixed martial arts promotion in the world.
