Let’s start with a prayer: “Dear God, I know that the first step in all spiritual healing is to believe. Open my mind and heart believing in Your infinite power and possibility. I believe that healing is a dynamic and reachable experience, a reality that can be experienced right now. I maintain a patient and loving attitude, for I believe that Your healing activity is now at work in my mind and body. I look forward, with joyful expectation, to the perfect wholeness that You are now bringing into manifestation through me. I believe in Your constant expression of perfect good in and through me. I rest in the certainty of Your healing power. I know that with You all things are possible. In Jesus Christ’s name, Amen.”

Many things in life is easier said than done. We all have spouted advice that we ourselves don’t adhere to or only follow when it is convenient. Or even when “someone is watching.” Was it not the pop diva Madonna who sang, “Papa, don’t preach”?
Okay, maybe it’s unfair to generalize. Maybe I have just grown too cynical in a cynical world. Maybe, just maybe, there are saintly souls out there who actually say what they mean and mean what they say all the time. To them, my sincerest admiration. May their tribe increase a thousand-fold. God knows we need more of their breed in a country controlled by political dynasties since time immemorial.
Who knows? Maybe the 620 DisiplinaMuna brigade members from the city’s different barangays sworn in recently by Mayor Benjie Magalong are among these saintly souls. We sincerely wish them all the best in performing their task as role models of self-discipline and responsible behavior in their respective localities.
Better yet, maybe we can all try to be self-disciplined and behave responsibly. Again, I said try. Correct me if I’m wrong but maybe it is better trying to be disciplined and upright human beings than not trying at all. Even in a country where the good guys and gals usually finish last are bashed or bullied. Just saying.

Here’s “God’s Gift” by John P. Read: “Love is like a river,/ A never ending stream./ Love is shared by each other/ To answer someone’s dream./ It’s a never ending story;/ Love is not a lie./ You can share in all its glory,/ For love will never die./ Love is all around you,/ The moon and stars above./ Love is a gift from God,/ And God is a gift of love.”
