BONTOC, Mountain Province – An organization in Barangay Tocucan is a grateful recipient of P1.1 million worth of agricultural assistance funded by the national government.

The Chinakhop Farmers and Irrigators Organization received the agricultural assistance from the Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Reconciliation and Unity through the Department of Agriculture-Cordillera on May 5, at Amogkhao, Tocucan, Bontoc.

The assistance is under the OPAPP and DA’s Sustainable and Inclusive Peace and Transformation Program (SIPAT) which aims to invest in human capital through the provision of livelihood opportunities and community-based projects to conflict-affected or vulnerable communities.

The organization, led by Fairlaine Amongan, received agriculture-based products such as chicken, layer feeds, grower feeds, breeder feeds, lactating feeds, and nets.

Also present during the turnover are DA-Cordillera Director Cameron Odsey, Mountain Province Rep. Maximo Dalog, Jr., represented by Dionisio Wacdisen; Gov. Bonifacio Lacwasan, Jr., represented by June Pinayakan; Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process representative Thomas Killip; Mountain Province Agriculture Program Coordinating Officer Beverly Pekas; Tocucan Punong Barangay Wilbert Padngaran; and Administrative Officer IV Ross Kiat-ong of the Office of the Municipal Agriculturist who is also the SIPAT point person. – Flora Mae Apos, Christy Mae F.
