TABUK CITY, Kalinga – Four expansion barangays under the Special Area for Agriculture Development (SAAD) received 23 draft carabaos to help the farmers in these communities.
The recipients of four carabaos each are barangays Ba-ay, Limos, and Wagud in Pinukpuk while Barangay Ambato of Tinglayan received 11 carabaos. The project was funded by SAAD Program for 2021.
The animals were inspected before they were released to ensure they are worthy work animals.
Ninety swine raisers from nine farmers’ cooperatives and associations also learned about farm biosecurity measures to combat the African swine fever.
The localized farmers’ coaching sessions were conducted in six areas in Pasil and Balbalan to increase awareness and encourage the beneficiaries to observe biosecurity on farms and respond to the concerns of their communities.
Through the training, the beneficiaries became partners in the swine repopulation program and will receive hog supplies worth P30,000 each.
