Disinfection will continue at sitios Bua West and Bua East in Tuding, Itogon, Benguet to ensure public safety after these areas were placed under granular lockdown on Aug. 26 to 30 due to rising Covid-19 cases.
The Itogon Inter-Agency Task Force earlier recommended for a granular lockdown in the two sitios when Covid-19 cases reached an alarming number of 51 recently.
Most of the patients were admitted at the municipal isolation facility while the severe cases were transferred to hospitals in Baguio and La Trinidad, Benguet.
Four hundred families from the two sitios were affected during the lockdown but concerned offices and groups such as the Office of Benguet Caretaker Eric Yap and supporters delivered food packs to these communities.
Members of the Bua West Association of Responsible Youth and Elders (BWARYE) led by Conrado Caniero heeded the call of the affected residents to disinfect the two sitios.
The disinfection was also made possible courtesy of the pledges in cash and in kind by concerned individuals here and overseas.
BWARYE members along with purok leaders, police and barangay personnel and other civilian volunteers showed up during the disinfection on Aug. 30.
Disinfected were areas where mass swab testing was conducted, pathways, trails, school grounds and front yards of residences.
BWARYE has called on concerned individuals and groups to assist in the upcoming disinfection in the next few days as a way to mitigate infection in the two sitios. – Press release
