A half marathon and 10-kilometer run for-a-cause that will benefit several youth organizations is set in La Trinidad, Benguet on Aug. 28.

Organized by the youth group A-anak Ni Shontog (Ashokon) in partnership with the municipal government, the event calls on all interested participants eight years old and above to join the friendly race.

Runners will go through the various tourist sites in the town such as the Puguis communal forest, Warriors Nest, Alapo Adventure Camp, and the Japanese Trail.

The 21-kilometer loop route is 80 percent road and 20 percent trail with a maximum elevation of 1,500 meters and elevation gain of 700 meters.

Organizers said the event is meant to help the youth overcome mental health-related issues while featuring the eco-tourism sites of the municipality.

Registration for 21K is P1,500 and 10K is P1,200, inclusive of finisher’s shirt, singlet, medal, certificate, and post-race meal and snacks.

Participants must bring a hydration pack, fuel belt or water bottle, trail food, whistle, fully-charged mobile phone, and first aid kit. They must also be self-contained and self-reliant and must observe cleanliness at all times.

Prizes await top three male and female winners for both categories: medals, items from sponsors, and special awards.

Oldest and youngest finishers will also receive special awards for the 21K and 10K.
