LAGAWE, Ifugao – The Ifugao District Jail based in Kiangan celebrated the 12th Bureau of Jail Management and Penology Community Relations Service Month with pro-environment and outreach activities.
With the theme, “Matatag na ugnayan ng pamayanan at piitan, daan tungo sa ligtas at maunlad na bayan”, the Ifugao District Jail personnel led by Chief Insp. Gannisi Olosan served 109 pupils of Batad Elementary School in Banaue in an outreach activity.
They held a gift giving, feeding, and information drive about the programs and services of the agency to the beneficiaries.
A similar activity was conducted at Poblacion North, Lagawe serving 19 learners of the Child Development Center.
The activities were made more successful through the donations of Frederick Ngipol for the Batad event and Yolanda B. Gaddang for the Lagawe activity.
Personnel of the Ifugao District Jail likewise planted 100 mahogany and guyabano seedlings in their more than two hectares of donated lot in Lamut.
This is in line with the BJMP’s efforts to fight climate change, improve the quality of natural environment, and create public awareness on environmental concerns.
Recently, the Ifugao Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office certified the 2.6570 hectares land area in Lamut intended for the BJMP-Ifugao District Jail.
The lot is expected to be surveyed for the processing of documents for the issuance of a presidential proclamation. – Marcelo Lihgawon
