TABUK CITY, Kalinga –The IKalinga Community of Southern United States of America (ICSUSA) and the Kalinga State University (KSU) have joined efforts for the establishment of a Filipiniana library here.
KSU President Eduardo T. Bagtang said under the joint project, the ICSUSA donated P50,000 for library materials while KSU provided space at its main library building.
The project, which was launched last December, provides research materials on Kalinga customs and traditions.
It also provides important contribution to USA-born ICSUSA children interested to trace and learn more about their roots.
The facility is open to the public.
Seeing the impact of the project, Bagtang said KSU will include it as a component in its existing program on culture with the National Commission on Culture and Arts for possible expansion and development.
The project was conceptualized when Bagtang was invited to the annual assembly of ICSUSA in Houston, Texas recently.
ICSUSA president John Ulep expressed appreciation to KSU for accepting the partnership and vowed to extend further assistance. – Larry Lopez
