The most populated barangay in Baguio will be the first to experience e-governance to be launched in the city.
Representatives of Information Technology Business Solutions (ITBS) and city and barangay representatives have laid the groundwork for the piloting of the “Smart Baguio City in my Pocket” (Smart Baguio) app in Barangay Irisan.
During a meeting on July 7 at City Hall, ITBS information technology head Melquiades Barin and Irisan kagawad Jennifer Dinangan agreed that the challenge now is how to convince residents to register in the system.
Irisan is home to 180,000 residents in 32 puroks.
The city, barangay, and ITBS are targeting at least 90 percent of residents to enroll in the project to better assess the app before it goes city-wide.
The city government and ITBS signed a memorandum of agreement July 1 to bring Baguio into the online governance and business transaction age using the Smart Baguio app.
The project envisions faster delivery of frontline services while eliminating office queues and face-to-face transactions and projected to address physical distancing issues while the Covid-19 still hovers. – Gaby Keith
