ISRI TAILINGS POND — Rainwater impounded during the onslaught of Typhoon Egay in the last week of July almost reached the top of the crown of the tailings storage facility (TSF) of Itogon-Suyoc Resources Inc. (ISRI) at Sangilo, Itogon, Benguet, short of overflowing and bringing anxiety to the communities below. The natural incident forced company workers to remove their machines and equipment from the site. It was gathered the mining company is planning to raise the TSF crest to 10 to 15 meters more in addition to the five meters that was already allowed in a memorandum of agreement this year. — Contributed photo
