Rescuers have found the bodies of the couple buried in a landslide at Barangay Loacan, Itogon, Benguet.
In his report to the Police Regional Office-Cordillera, Itogon Municipal Police Chief, Maj. Dexter Simon, said the body of Morina Simeon Lintan, 57, was found at 8:05 a.m. on Aug. 20, after four days of rescue and retrieval operations.
Lintan, together with her partner Nestor Talangcag, 54, were buried when the mountain beside the Antamok River, where they were panning eroded on Aug. 17.
The couple hid behind a boulder, but the mud eventually covered the boulder where they sought refuge in.
Talangcag’s remains were retrieved around 2 p.m. on Aug. 19.
Dante Tomi, Talangcag’s older brother, and the couple’s son were with them when the incident happened.
Tomi and the couple’s 17-year-old son are unhurt as they were able to run for safety.
Loacan Punong Barangay Andres Cuyan said Lintan’s body would be brought home to Tublay where her family resides while that of Talangcag is at his house at Barangay Loacan. – PNA
