Rising mixed martial arts female fighter Jenelyn Olsim has opted to join her brother, Jerry, in pursuing their MMA career under the famed Team Lakay.
After her long stint with local gym Tribal Submission-Team Torogi, the Bokod, Benguet native has joined the elite roster of female MMA fighters training with one of the best MMA gyms in Asia.
Olsim is one of the formidable Muay Thai athletes from the Philippines, having won gold medals in several international competitions such as the 2018 East Asian Muay Thai Championship, where she and her brother won a gold medal in their respective divisions.
Olsim was also a gold medalist in the 2017 Muay Thai National Open held in Manila.
As an MMA fighter, Olsim is currently among the active female fighters signed with the Rich Franklin’s ONE Warrior Series (OWS).
She has won in her OWS debut when she dominated Claudia Diaz in the OWS 3 in October 2018 but was defeated by Caitlin McEwen in the OWS 7 in August 2019. Since then, Olsim has not seen action inside the ONE circle.
Olsim has three wins and two losses as a professional MMA fighter.
Meanwhile, Olsim’s brother, Jerry, is one of the members of the Philippine Kickboxing Team that won gold medal in the 30th Southeast Asian Games hosted by the country in 2019.
Jerry is one of the fighters under OWS who has the potential to join the ONE main roster given his impressive MMA record of six wins and one loss.
Jerry has won four of his five fights in the OWS, which offers a six-figure contract to any fighter who will earn the credential to join the ONE main roster. – Harley F. Palangchao
