Junior golfers in the locality have another chance to compete with adult and seasoned players when the first edition of Kafagway tournament this year kicks off Jan. 18 at the Baguio Country Club.
The past years saw the growing number of jungolfers in Baguio and Benguet, particularly those from La Trinidad and Mankayan, who are aspiring to go places in the future.
Jungolfers and BCC members will have a registration fee of P800 while non-BCC members will pay P1,800. Mulligan is optional at P200 for two – one front and one back.
The play format will be Molave for point system and System 36 for classification of players.
There will be class A and B for the member and guest divisions for both men’s and ladies’ groups.
Special awards will be nearest to the pin at hole one, longest drive at hole three, most accurate drive at hole eight, and lowest gross.
Tee-times will be on first come, first served basis from 6 to 7:30 a.m. then at 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. for the second round.

Local tournaments mostly sponsored by BCC and its neighboring Camp John Hay have become the stepping stone for young parbusters to hone their skills, especially those vying to become members of the National JunGolf Team.
One of the jungolfers who excelled as an amateur player is Luigi Paolo Wong of La Trinidad, who is now pursuing his studies and golfing career in the United States.
The 18-year-old Wong has represented the Philippines in international competitions the past three years.
