The Kafagway golf series by Baguio Country Club continues as BCC announced the opening of registration for the tournament set on Aug. 26 and 27 at the par 61 course.

Players may choose their preferred playing date during the two-day tournament with a registration fee of P1,200 for BCC members and P2,200 for non-club members.

Tee time will be on first come, first served basis. The first round will be from 6 to 10 a.m. and the second round starts at 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., both on Aug. 26 and 27.

The member’s division will have winners in the class A and B for men’s and ladies’ category while the guest division will award winners in the men’s A and B and the top three female golfers.

The overall low gross will be awarded to a BCC member.

Special awards are nearest to the pin at hole one; longest drive at hole three; and most accurate drive at hole 8.

Format of play will be the Molave point system where players will be required to pick their ball after double bogey.

Interested participants may contact the BCC Sports, Entertainment, Activities, and Recreations at 0919-079-7963 for tee time reservation.

Last month, retired police general Ed Basbas carded the lowest 67 gross among all golfers to win as the overall champion in the July edition of the Kafagway golf tournament.

It is the second time that Basbas emerged the top winner of the Kafagway golf series after he also fired a five-over par 61 in January 2020.

Pol Mayos carded 43 Molave points to win as champion in the member men’s class A followed by Mon Aldana and Ely Lagman with 42 points apiece. The member ladies’ A was topped by Nora Sy with 36 points while  lawyer Henry Rosito had 50 points to win the men’s guest class A. – Harley F. Palangchao
