TABUK CITY, Kalinga – A young college instructor from Kalinga is among this year’s awardees of the Gawad Tugatog for Outstanding Global Educator given by the Aloysian Publication-Philippines and Betma English Vietnam.
Michael Miller Picat, instructor and research editor at the Saint Louis College of Bulanao (SLCB), was conferred the award on Aug. 26 in Pasay City during the 2023 free education summit and Gawad Tugatog.

Picat has two published the research articles “Contextualization of Indigenous Peoples Education in Physical Education in the Private Schools” and “Factors Affecting the Academic Performance of Grade 11 students in General Mathematics in Tabuk City”. These are being used by the SLCB as reference materials for teaching, training and research.
Picat said the award is a privilege and an honor, and he hopes that his achievement will inspire other educators to give their best in their work.
Nominees to the search were evaluated based on education, performance rating, awards, international benchmarking travels and global network, community extension services and research, innovation, and publication. – Larry L. Lopez
