TABUK CITY, Kalinga – Women in the province now have a center where they can converge, display their products, and engage in entrepreneurial activities.
Department of Social Welfare and Development-Cordillera Director Leo Quintilla and Gov. Ferdinand Tubban recently led other officials in the blessing and ribbon cutting ceremonies of the Women’s Center in time for the Women’s Month celebration.
The building houses the productivity skills and productivity center, Kalipunan ng Liping Pilipino (Kalipi) product display center, and the Kalipi cooperative.
Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer Digna Dalutag said that the provincial government allocated P500,000 to complete the building’s second level to accommodate a separate office for the Kalipi cooperative which has more than 2,000 members.
Judith Puday, focal person on women, said they are targeting to train 30 individuals including men who are interested in on sewing.
Enrollment is ongoing for the three month-training that will start April 1. Graduates will be assessed by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority to qualify them for the National Certificate II. – Peter A. Balocnit
