DICT, Tabuk tie up for RIS
by Larry Lopez / PIA

TABUK CITY, Kalinga – The Department of Information and Communication Technology has identified this city as a co-working space partner under its Rural Impact Sourcing (RIS) program in the Cordillera.

The partnership was sealed by a memorandum of agreement signed during the launching of the program.

Under the MOA, DICT provides computer units and training while Tabuk City offered office space and personnel.

Mona Lisa Vizcarra of DICT-RO2 said the RIS program aims to empower rural communities in information and communication technology for them to cope with the trend.

“Information technology has developed faster as expected. The program equips people in these rural areas to stay in the technology mainstream of entrepreneurship, education and economy,” Vizcarra said.

Tabuk City Mayor Darwin C. Estranero said the program is timely to help students in their online works under the distance learning.

The RIS hub is also open to micro-entrepreneurs interested to train in online marketing which is now growing fast due to the lockdown, Estranero added.
