DOLORES, Abra – The Kalipunan ng Liping Pilipina (Kalipi) Municipal Federation of Dolores and the local government unit recently hosted a mobile blood donation drive in celebration of Women’s Month.
Twenty blood units were collected in the mass blood donation activity conducted in partnership with the Provincial Health Office, Philippine Red Cross-Abra Chapter, Philippine Association of Medical Technologists-Abra chapter, and the Provincial Department of Health Office.
Donors consisting mostly of Kalipi members and other volunteers are regular donors.
“I am a regular blood donor because aside from helping other people who are in need of blood, I believe regular blood donation also has many benefits on the part of the donor,” Guzman said.
Kalipi Dolores Federation president Lilibeth Banatao said they offered their assistance for the blood donation drive as they know the difficulty of looking for blood in times of emergencies. There are more than 1,000 active Kalipi members in the municipality.
“If the LGUs here in the province continue their support to this blood donation activity, we are sure we will have an adequate supply of blood in our blood banks,” Provincial Blood Program coordinator Lilibeth Martin said. – Christian Tubadeza
