Mayor Benjamin Magalong expressed confidence that 2023 will be a year of reckoning for the city.
“With determination and grace, I am confident that 2023 will be our year of reckoning. We will continue what we have started and we will add to those accomplishments as we make Baguio a city worthy of global recognition,” Magalong said in his message read by City Administrator Bonifacio dela Pena during flag raising rites on Dec. 27, 2022.
He also announced the city government received its ISO 9001: 2015 Quality Management System Certification on Dec. 26 after an exhaustive external audit conducted by an accredited third-party auditing firm.
He extended his utmost gratitude and appreciation to Rep. Mark Go, Vice Mayor Faustino Olowan, councilors, department heads, and city government employees “for all that you have done.”
“Your efforts have made a significant impact on how we have elevated government service in the city. I am honored to work alongside such a talented and dedicated group of individuals. Your commitment to excellence has not gone unnoticed and I am confident that together, we will continue to make a positive difference in the lives of those we serve,” his message read.
“This could not have come at a better time. We have already accomplished more than what we could have hoped for in the past three years even with the pandemic in our midst. Next year will be even more challenging, more people will be keeping a closer eye on us, but I assure you that I will never leave you behind.”
He also stressed the importance of reflecting on the challenges and accomplishments of the past year as it comes to a close.
“Despite the difficulties we may have faced, we have the power to move forward with hope and determination. I am proud of the resilience and strength of our community. We have come together in the face of adversity and supported each other through difficult times,” Magalong said. – Gaby B. Keith
