BANGUED, Abra – The League of the Municipalities of the Philippines (LMP) will prioritize open access of services among local government units through the digitalization program.
LMP national president and La Paz Abra Mayor Joseph Sto. Niño Bernos said digitalization will make services of LGUs easier to access.
“Meron kaming digitalization project na lahat ng services ng LGU ay computerized na and you can access these services anywhere as long as you have Internet connection,” Bernos said.
The initiative of the LMP supports the Full Digital Transformation Act of 2020 which mandates all government offices to adopt a digital plan that aligns with the Philippine Digital Transformation Strategy.
“There will come a time that the LGUs will normalize the establishment of digitalization. We will also hook it up with the services of the national office,” Bernos added.
He believes the initiative will transform and enable LGUs to serve their constituents better in the years ahead.
Bernos welcomed the implementation of the Mandanas-Garcia ruling which will benefit LGUs especially fifth and sixth class municipalities.
“The Mandanas ruling is good for the LGUs; it will improve the services of the LGUs most especially health services which is a priority in all municipalities,” he said.
As the LMP president, Bernos vowed to fulfill the mandates of the league in providing better services to the municipalities. – Christian Allister Tubadeza
