Dancesports athletes from Benguet and Baguio City were invited to take part in the inter-local government unit dancesports competition and training camp this February and March.

The event, organized by the Dancesport Cordillera, Inc. features solo events in the Latin and standard for the juvenile 1 and 2, junior 1 and 2, youth and adult;  couple events Latin and standard for the juvenile C and A, junior C and A, youth C, grade D and C, teacher to teacher or teacher to student; and duo events for the juvenile C, junior C, youth C and open C.

DanceSport Cordillera head Charibelle Pingawan said the series of training camps and competitions, which is set on Feb. 11, 12, 25, 26 and will culminate on March 4, will help sharpen the skills of young athletes to prepare them for future competitions.

Registration fee is P2,500 inclusive of training camp T-shirt and competitors kit, or P2,100 inclusive of competitor’s kit.

Costume and dress regulations for all competitors will be strictly enforced and shall be the responsibility of the competitors. For the juvenile and junior competitors, it shall be the responsibility of the participants’ parents or guardian and coaches.

All juvenile categories must follow the prescribed Philippine DanceSport Federation (PDSF) or World DanceSport Federation (WDSF) syllabus and routine, while all juvenile and junior categories must follow the prescribed PDSF or WDSF dress regulation.

Age limit is based on the year of birth while age restriction for the synchronized duo will be the age of the older partner, which is the basis for the qualification of the category to be joined.

Dancesport Cordillera currently has eight original members who are still active while new trainees from Baguio and Benguet are composed of 20 athletes.
