LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – Mayor Romeo K. Salda lauded the Cordillera Comprehensive Action Team (CCAT) for its volunteer efforts in implementing the Inter-agency Task Force protocols during Covid-19 operations.
Since the start of community lockdowns in March until December 2020, the CCAT aided the Municipal IATF (MIATF) in ensuring the community follows IATF protocols like observing social distancing, wearing of face masks and face shields, liquor ban, and curfew hours.
In March 2020, the La Trinidad MIATF deputized the CCAT through a municipal order authorizing it to implement IATF protocols and the No Smoking Ordinance, liquor ban, and curfew hours.
It also joins the Land Transportation Office and La Trinidad police in apprehending car owners for illegal parking and obstruction of right-of-way.
The CCAT, headed by Gabriel Francisco, has been visiting different barangays, houses, business establishments, and schools to ensure IATF protocols are properly observed.
Salda said he is studying the possibility of renewing the MOA with CCAT, which already expired.
Francisco said the CCAT has been helping in crowd control during the Strawberry Festival in La Trinidad and Panagbenga civic parades in Baguio City. It has also been working with the Philippine National Police and LTO during summer vacation operations along major roads and checkpoints in Baguio and Benguet. – Augustina Dao-anis
