The Bosigan Multipurpose Cooperative (MPC) in Mankayan, Benguet has received on June 4 an P18 million worth highland vegetable consolidation and marketing enterprise implemented under the Department of Agriculture’s Philippine Rural Development Project (PRDP).

The enterprise subproject includes a two-story consolidation building, a hauling truck, crates and trolleys, and capital of P411,750.

Mankayan Mayor Dario S. Banario, DA Regional Executive Director Jennilyn M. Dawayan, and Bosigan MPC board of directors Chair Liby Ngaseo led the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the facility.

Department heads and staff members of the local government, barangay officials, representatives of the PRDP Project Support Office and regional office, and other farmers’ groups in Barangay Balili, Mankayan joined in the celebration and turn over.

In his message, Banario encouraged the farmers to sustain Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) in producing highland vegetables.

“Yantangay naikkan tayo ti kastoy nga project, suruten tayo, itultuloy tayo ti GAP and hopefully towards full organic production,” the mayor said.

Mankayan has the highest number of GAP-certified farmers.

Dawayan, for her part, emphasized the importance of transparency in the operation and management of the enterprise.

“I hope you take good care of this project because my dream for you is to reach assets worth a hundred million, enabling you to help more farmers here in Benguet,” Dawayan said.

Ngaseo expressed his gratitude to those who supported them from the proposal stage to the project’s completion.

“Adi mi mailadawan din ragsak mi sin naamagan di nanrigrigatan taku. Pirmi din ragragsak mi idi narugian inggana nalpas ya welcome din sino man ay farmers ay mangusar sina ay facility baken lang din Bosigan. Aywanan taku, usaren taku ay nasayaat inggana tawiden di aannak taku,” he said.

He also praised the PRDP for adhering to its guidelines during the construction phase.

Other guests congratulated Bosigan MPC for the completion of their subproject and shared some insights for the sustainability of their project.
