BANGUED, Abra – More Abrenian students continue to receive support under the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations-Educational Assistance Program (AICS EAP) of the government.

A total of 1,889 student-beneficiaries received P5,000 during a payout on July 19 at the University of Abra Social Hall in Bangued.

The payout is the third batch of the distribution of financial assistance to accommodate 5,171 eligible Abrenian students.

The educational assistance with P26 million allocation is implemented through the partnership of the Department of Social Welfare and Development and the Office of Rep. Menchie B. Bernos.

Bernos said the government is doing its best to serve almost 6,000 students who applied for the assistance in her office.

She said the yearly program that aims to aid the educational needs of the Abrenian youth is her gift to the graduating students, adding there is a plan to include high school students in the distribution of assistance.

Niezel Dheidre Daguisan, who is among the beneficiaries, is thankful for the assistance that would help cover her tuition. Daguisan from Malibcong is a first year college student taking up Bachelor of Science in Education at the University of Abra where 82 percent of the total beneficiaries come from. – Jamie Joie Malingan
