Mayor Benjamin Magalong has denounced fixers or individuals doing illegal bookkeeping services who namedrop City Hall officials and employees to obtain money from their taxpayer clients.
“There were taxpayers coming to my office complaining that they paid certain amount to bookkeepers allegedly for City Hall workers who were demanding money for merienda.  We have a strict policy against fixers and I believe that these fixers were just out to milk their clients,” the mayor said.
He urged taxpayers not to deal with fixers for their transactions.
He said the city government strictly follows the “No to Fixer” policy under the Republic Act 9845 or the Anti-Red Tape Act of 2007, which imposes stiff penalty on fixers, which range imprisonment not exceeding six six years or a fine of not more than P200,000 or both.
He asked the public to immediately report fixers to 911 through direct call or through the Baguio in my Pocket app. – Aileen P. Refuerzo
