BANGUED, Abra – A total of 7,783 national government employees in the province are set to receive their one time Rice Assistance Grant as directed by President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. in December last year.

National Food Authority-Bangued has started releasing the rice grant last May 3. Releasing will be until June 30.

Marcos directed the one-time grant of rice assistance for all government employees regardless of job status by virtue of Administrative 2, s. 2022.

Each employee will receive 25 kilograms of locally produced milled rice to be withdrawn at the Bangued warehouse.

In the recent meeting with the focal persons of the provincial offices of line agencies, NFA Ilocos Norte Branch Head Jonathan Corpuz said the implementing guidelines on the releasing of the rice grant.

For the employees to receive the rice grant, the agency’s focal person must fill up forms such as the list of beneficiaries, acknowledgement receipt and a photocopy of their office-issued identification card.

“We will be following a schedule for each government office to employ a systematic manner of releasing this grant,” Corpuz said.

It was agreed upon that if an office requests for a re-scheduling of the releasing of their rice, it will be moved a day after the last releasing schedule.

As to the quality of the milled rice, the NFA assured that it is the locally harvested rice in the province.

In an interview with Bucay Jail Officer 1 Ceasar Panganiban, he said he will bring home to   Baguio City his rice grant.

“Na-assign lang ako dito sa Abra and umuuwi naman ako weekly sa Baguio, so dadalhin ko na lang doon,” he said. – Christian Allister Tubadeza
