Officials of the 128 barangays in Baguio are reminded of their duty to strictly implement the enhanced community quarantine rules in their respective jurisdictions.

In Memorandum 38 issued April 6, Mayor Benjamin Magalong reiterated to barangay officials that they are allowed to establish checkpoints at entry areas and interior roads under the supervision of the police.

The mayor said this is to monitor residents’ compliance with the home quarantine pass requirement and 24-hour curfew.

“All punong barangays are directed to coordinate with the Baguio City Police Office stations having jurisdiction over their areas for guidance on checkpoints,” Magalong said in the memorandum.

The mayor issued the memorandum after receiving reports regarding the alleged lax implementation of rules on curfew and residents leaving their residences without quarantine pass or on days not included in their assigned market schedule.

Magalong also noticed that some residents are able to loiter within their barangays disregarding the quarantine rules. – Jessa Mardy P. Samidan
