Fan favorites from Team Lakay will be back in action anytime soon after missing them inside the ONE Championship circle for months due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
ONE Championship Chair Chatri Sityodtong said in a virtual interview that former two-time champion Eduard Folayang, as well as former champions Kevin Belingon and Geje Eustaquio will have their chance to fight again inside the circle.
Sityodtong did not mention if the fight night will be held in Manila, as most of the ONE Championship events held while the world is fighting the Covid-19 pandemic were done in Thailand and Japan only.
Sityodtong has acknowledged that fans are excited to see the Lakay warriors inside the circle, saying it is the only team in Asia that produced four world champions under the ONE Championship promotion.
It was in 2018 that Team Lakay has five world champions – four in ONE Championship and one in Brave Combat Federation.
The world champions then were Folayang, Belingon, Eustaquio, and Joshua Pacio under ONE while Stephen Loman is the reigning Brave CF bantamweight world champion since 2017 up to present.
The last time Lakay warriors saw action was in January when Folayang was defeated by Pieter Buist via decision.
Belingon’s last fight was in October 2019 against reigning ONE bantamweight world champion Bibiano Fernandes while Eustaquio won against Toni Tauro via spinning back kick in November 2019.
Team Lakay Chair Mark Sangiao has identified the fighters whom he wants his wards to fight next.
