A total of P34.2 million worth of marijuana plants were uprooted and burned in Loccong, Tinglayan, Kalinga in two separate eradication operations.
The continuing marijuana eradication operations conducted by personnel of the regional office of the Police Regional Office and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency a total of 170,700 fully grown marijuana and 2,500 marijuana seedlings.
On July 4, personnel of the Kalinga Provincial Police Office, 1503rd Regional Mobile Force Battalion15, PDEA, and Tinglayan police discovered the marijuana planting sites where 63,200 fully grown marijuana with Dangerous Drug Board value of P12. 6M were burned on site after documentation.
The team then continued to scour the area for possible planting sites and suspects but it yielded negative result.
On July 9, joint personnel of Kalinga Drug Enforcement Unit, the police stations in Tinglayan, Tanudan, Lubuagan, Provincial Mobile Force Command, Regional Intelligence Division Police Regional Office Cordillera, Regional Intelligence Unit-14, 1503rdRMFB15, and PDEA also discovered a vast track of marijuana plantation site at Sitio Loccong.
The government operatives destroyed 107,500 fully-grown marijuana with a DDB value of P21.5M. They were also able to find 2,500 pieces of marijuana seedlings valued at P100,000.
Last June, authorities eradicated and burned on site P62.8 million worth of marijuana in Tinglayan. – Ofelia C. Empian
