The continuous anti-illegal drug eradication of the Police Regional Office-Cordillera led to the burning of around P36 million worth of marijuana plants in Loccong, Tinglayan, Kalinga and Tacadang, Kibungan, Benguet recently.
On July 4, personnel of Kalinga Provincial Police Office, 1503rd Regional Mobile Force Battalion 15, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency and the Tinglayan Municipal Police Station carried started their travel at the Tinglayan Municipal Police Station and traveled on mobile for two hours and hiked the target area for another four hours.
The group discovered the 7,900 square meter planting site planted with 63,200 fully grown marijuana plants with an estimated value of P12.6 million in the drug market.
“Documentation and photographs were done at the area of operation and later the marijuana plants were uprooted and burned onsite,” according to the report of the Kalinga PPO.
The personnel then scoured the area for possible other planting sites and suspects but found none.
The planting sites totaled to 12,000 square meters and was planted with 107,500 fully grown marijuana and 2,500 pieces of marijuana seedlings. The marijuana plants and seedlings, amounting to P21.6M, were uprooted and burned on site.
No person was arrested during the operation.
On July 12, a team of police and anti-narcotics operatives swooped down on three marijuana plantation sites in Tacadang, Kibungan where around P1M worth of the illegal plants were destroyed.
