The City Public Employment Services Office (PESO) will start accepting applications for the last batch of this year’s Special Program for the Employment of Students (SPES) with 136 slots.

The city government will be accepting applications from Oct. 12 to 14 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at PESO, Baguio City Hall.

 To qualify for the program, interested applicants must be Baguio residents aged 17 to 24 years old; physically and mentally fit; of good moral character, and no failed grades for students.

Also qualified are out of school youths (OSY) who are not currently employed or students who filed a leave of absence from school or have not enrolled last school semester or the current semester intending to enroll and pursue their education immediately after the SPES period; or students who can work full time within the employment period.

The family of the applicant should belong to the low-income earners or income should not exceed the annual poverty threshold of P149,442 standard of the National Economic Development Authority.

Applicants should not be a government scholar and preferably not a beneficiary of the Baguio City Educational Financial Assistance Grant.

Interested applicants shall personally submit the following requirements: original birth certificate from the Philippine Statistics Authority; original barangay certificate of OSY or grades from the last semester (for students on leave), or last semester and current grades (for students); barangay certificate of residency; BIR tax exemption of both parents including an affidavit of low income from the Public Attorney’s Office; vaccination card/certificate; and one passport size ID picture.

Additional requirements may be requested by PESO upon validation of documents and interview of the applicant.

Applicants shall undergo the examination scheduled Oct. 20 to 21 at a time and place to be announced.

Tentative employment period is from Oct. 27 to Dec. 9 or 30 days for an equivalent salary of more or less P15,000. – Jessa Mardy P. Samidan
