BESAO, Mountain Province – Forty-five farmers in Barangay Tamboan in this municipality are training on organic agriculture production and are expected to pursue it as a livelihood.

Project “ESEK” of the Technical Education, Skills and Development Authority-Mountain Province in partnership with members of the Poverty Reduction, Livelihood, and Employment Cluster of the Provincial Task Force in Empowering Local Communities to Accelerate Change (the provincial version of end local communist armed conflict (Elcac) was launched in July.

ESEK stands for environmental sustainability through ecological kinetics. In the dialect, it means to plant.

Project ESEK provides training on Organic Agriculture Production NC II with four competencies, namely production of organic vegetables, organic fertilizer, organic concoction, and organic poultry or swine.  

The project addresses one of the needs of the residents of the barangay that they identified during the barangay consultation conducted by the PTF- Elcac.

Barangay Tamboan is one of the identified Elcac barangays in the province.

There are 45 beneficiaries under the project and are grouped in three batches. Each batch is composed of 15 individuals who shall undergo the 29-day training on Organic Agriculture Production NC II by the Tesda-Provincial Training Center with Jeff Layog as the trainor.

The first batch already completed their training while the second batch started last Sept. 28. Both batches are composed of beneficiaries from Sitio Dandanac. Farmers from Tamboan Proper compose the third batch. – Juliet B. Saley
