The Philippine Statistics Authority-Benguet is currently undertaking the nationwide January 2020 Labor Force Survey (LFS).
The LFS is a quarterly survey of households which aims to provide a quantitative framework for the preparation of plans and formulation of policies affecting the labor market.
For the survey, 35 from Baguio City and and 24 barangays from the different municipalities in Benguet were selected as sample areas. From these barangays, sample households will be interviewed by statistical researchers, which started on Jan. 9 and will end on Jan. 31.
The Computer Assisted Personal Interviewing data collection will be employed.
PSA-Benguet encourages sample households to cooperate in the conduct of the activity.
The PSA is also conducting the Agricultural Wage Rate Survey, which aims to generate estimates of average wage rates of agricultural farm workers, specifically for the four major crops: palay, corn, coconut, and sugarcane. This is to establish basis for computing the average wage rate in agriculture.
Specifically, the survey aims to determine the national and regional averages and variations on wage rates by type of labor (i.e. man, man-animal, and man-machine) for the different farm operations; generate gender-based date for wage rates; and, determine the extent of women’s participation in agricultural production activities.
For Benguet, there were 15 sample palay households located at the following barangays in four municipalities of Benguet: Poblacion, Atok (three household samples); San Pascual, Tuba (five household samples); Banangan, Sablan (three household samples); and Dalipey, Bakun (four household samples). The survey started on Jan. 13 up to Jan. 31. – Imelda L. Buyuccan
