Local biker Eliz Von Quintela has ruled the 4th Ambuklao Mountain Bike challenge held in Itogon, Benguet on Nov. 13.

Quintela crossed the finish line in 27 minutes and 47 seconds in the road bike open category of the event that started from the Adunut Bridge and went through the scenic Ambuklao Road towards the finish at the viewdeck.

He was followed by Marc Santiago with a time of 30:19 time and Joel Halog with a time of  30:20, as they edged other participants during the event mounted for the benefit of the St. Caroline Episcopal Church in Pada-ngaan, Besao, Mountain Province.  

Aezra Liporada topped the female side of the category at 48:15, followed by Jenny-Vi Fontanilla and Erica MaiveBulatao at 49:51 and 50:56, respectively.

Larrexziel Tabangin led the 12 years old and below category as he conquered the 11.92-kilometer route followed by Dhen Ulysses Asiado and Earl Santos.

Karl Andrei Basto took the top spot of the 13 to 17 age group of the event organized by Team Kalasag, trailed by Lawrence Aviles and Bryan Jay Villaflor.

Giro Carpio led the 18 to 29 years old category followed by Jemart Apa-an and Arjayvie Velasco while Joseph Velo ruled the 30 to 39 years old followed by Harry Tanoja and Jerico Walang.

The 40 to 49 years old saw Marlon Valdez in first place followed by Renante Gavao and Allan Walang.

Robert Fontanilla took the top spot in the 50 to 59 category followed by Ariel Tubiera and Rene Waje while Ronald Laranang topped the 60 and above category followed by Kenneth Del Rosario and Bobot Benitez.

The event, the first bike-for-a-church mounted, gathered 133 bikers from Baguio, Benguet, and neighboring areas. – Ofelia C. Empian
